The Write Direction offers free or very affordable editing for students working on their personal statements for college admissions or scholarships. We also offer free workshops on how to write effective essays that are offered throughout Orange County. History Established in 2016. In 2016, the IRS recognized The Write Direction as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. With the proliferation of expensive private college counseling services, The Write Direction was formed to provide an alternative for low and middle income students in Orange County who need guidance on their personal statements and essays for college admissions. Scholarships are available for one-on-one assistance. Families with the ability to pay may request editing help at extremely affordable rates. All proceeds support the mission of The Write Direction. Meet the Manager Cindy S. Manager Cindy Willett Sherwood is the founder and executive director of The Write Direction.
