My Style of Learning is a free college preparatory after-school program that works with first-generation college-bound students in grades 9-12, preparing them to pursue higher education through career exploration and academic achievement. Services include: weekly workshops covering topics ranging from study skills to college exploration, artistic mentoring, after-school tutoring, SAT preparatory classes, college tours, social events, and much more. In addition, all 12th grade participants receive weekly individual advising on exploring college majors and potential careers, and completing college and financial assistance applications. Each student will be asked what they would like to learn that is not available at school. My Style of Learning will then invite speakers or mentors or prepare workshops to cater to the students’ interests. If a student wanted to learn how to become a chef, then we will find a mentor who is a chef to speak with the student individually or by workshop. History Established in 2012. My Style of Learning is a non-profit organization committed to providing Academic and Artistic Support for the Youth. We are dedicated to providing academic tutoring/planning and artistic mentoring. Academic performance provides a strong foundation for a successful future. Artistic expression is food for the soul, strengthens one’s identity and mental health, and enriches academic growth. So many performance and visual arts programs have been cut from schools and we aim to provide resources and workshops catering to each student’s style of learning and interests. College and career counseling/planning are also an important part of our programs. Our goal is to encourage a well-balanced education and make learning fun, because it is!Join us!
