I help students before, during and after the college admissions process. I work with you to be fully equipped every step of the way-from preparing for the reading/writing/science portions of the SAT/ACT, exploring college options and completing applications to writing standout college essays, acing interviews and evaluating offers of admission. History Established in 2006. For the past 10 years, I have combined every facet of my background–state-of-the-art educational knowledge, expertise as a professional writer/researcher and graduate-level training in counseling–to help students navigate the college admissions process and launch satisfying and successful college careers.I began my career as an education writer and researcher before turning my attention to individual students. After launching a tutoring practice that focused on bolstering students’ writing, critical-thinking and test-taking skills, I received many requests to help students with college essays and expanded my practice to include educational consulting focusing on the transition from high school to college. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, I earned a Master’s degree in social and clinical psychology from New College of California.
My approach to college admissions stems from proven strategies developed over many years in the field and continuous involvement in the changing landscapes of the UC system, Ivy League and a wide range of other schools. In-depth knowledge of the college admissions process and expertise in counseling enable me to approach students from multiple perspectives and provide the skills, guidance and information they need to gain acceptance to the colleges of their choice. In addition to working with individual students, I lead college admissions and college essay workshops and am available to speak to parent and school groups on a range of related topics. As a long-time resident of Petaluma and an east coast native, I have a broad perspective of the many college options available to students today, both in California and across the country.
