Dr. Takahashi Juku, Ltd. is Hawaii’s preeminent preparatory school for the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) for private school admissions. Also, every year, we prepare over 50 pre-Kindergarten students for admission into the top private kindergartens in the state. Knowing that the kindergarten admissions process can place great stress on students, we customize our pre-K curriculum for each student to help him/her successfully navigate the daunting process. Our program is constantly evolving to clients’ needs. History Established in 1977. In 1968, Dr. Takahashi established and ran successful jukus in Kawasaki and Tokyo, Japan, when he was a full-time student at Tokyo University of Education. After graduating with his M.A., Dr. Takahashi moved to Hawaii to commence his Ph.D. program. Dr. Takahashi began tutoring students in Honolulu and, in 1977, opened Juku’s doors on Algaroba Street and, later, South King Street, where it has served the community for the last few decades. Although Juku primarily supported recently relocated children from Japan with adapting to the American school system, attendance swelled to more than 200 students through the 1980s, and Juku became known for helping local and international students prepare for Hawaii’s top schools. Today, Juku is Hawaii’s preeminent preparatory school for some of the most competitive schools in the state and nation.
Dr. Toshiaki Takahashi founded Dr. Takahashi Juku in 1977 and has taught well over 10,000 students in Japan and Hawaii during his tenure. His primary focus is prepping students for entry into Iolani and Punahou and prepping high school students for the SAT exams. His fundamental philosophy is to provide tailored tutoring sessions to each individual student's needs. His goal with each student is to accomplish one academic year's worth of subject material within 20 hours of personalized instruction.
