SAT and ACT tutoringStudy skills and organization History Established in 2006. For nearly a decade Top Score Education has been helping students understand and master the standardized testing process, all with a focus on lowering stress and maintaining balance between scores, grades and healthy activities. Our parents are more informed and our students more motivated through the efforts of full-time career tutors, who both excel on the tests themselves and smoothly transfer that ability to others. By the end of the program we are no longer just tutors, but advisors, counselors and family friends. Our small size allows a personal connection you won’t find elsewhere.
I grew up in this area, attended the Landon School for Boys in Bethesda and then attended Duke University. I graduated from Duke in '04 and completed my MA in Writing at Johns Hopkins University in May of 2007. A company approached me (Metropolitan Counseling Associates) to start an SAT/ACT program for them, so I wrote a 220 page manual on the SAT called Question the Answers, and established their program for a year. I left MCA to build my own company, Top Score Education LLC, and have taught over 500 students privately and in group classes in the SAT and ACT. While my interests lean more to the Humanities, I am equally effective teaching in all subjects. I take the SAT and ACT every few years with the students to stay current and show solidarity--on my last ACT I missed 0 of 215 questions for a perfect 36 composite score and on my last SAT I achieved a perfect 2400 score. I teach privately in students' homes, tutor the following tests: SAT/ACT/SAT Subject Tests/PSAT and more.
