Mind Matters is a unique learning center. Our program goes beyond tutoring. We do brain training. Our program enables students to develop their brains processing ability in order to retain and recall age appropriate amounts of information visually and aurally. The result is an independent, self confident learner who is able to read, write, and comprehend at an age appropriate level. History Established in 2000. Mind Matters is unique. Our core business is not tutoring it’s brain training. By working with the struggling students to improve “how” that student learns. Allowing us to develop a talent and love of learning.Feeling strongly that retaining a child that is giving a full effort would not really change anything unless you changed something. Doing more of what did not work in the first place made no sense to me. Hearing parents talk about the overwhelming number of hours their child spends a night on homework. How they would go over and over spelling words, concepts or projects and the child appeared to get it. Only to be frustrated with a lessor than expected grade or a discussion where the child seemed not to remember what they had worked on. By determining if the student has visual or auditory processing deficits/limits and developing a therapeutic plan to repair or strengthen the source of the struggle. We are able to create a happy, confident and independent learner
At 7 years old I was diagnosed with a learning disability. At the time the only solution was to label me and to lessen my work and the expectations for my academic future. I felt strongly that I was not disabled but that lacked the ability to learning skills on some level. I came to just accepted that I was different. I was unwilling to go into a special class. I wanted to be like everyone else. I have worked really hard my entire academic career. Homework and learning required an insane amount of time and repetition. But it was the only thing that we knew to do.It was not until my daughter began to struggle that I really looked for answers as an adult. But when she came home feeling defeated I began looking for something that would make her love learning. None of the available options were acceptable to me. In my search I developed a program that works. In this process I found that I had a real passion for helping student reach their full potential.
